Purpose
  • Briefly review the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and Teacher Evaluation Process
  • Develop inter-rater reliability of standards 1-5 through the use of classroom observation with video and a full scenario
  • Understand professional coaching techniques
  • Analyze observation notes, and plan for crucial conversations with teachers to help them grow professionally

Warm-up activity - Use the posters to answer the following questions. Be specific to what you can do and/or will do:
  • How will you link professional development to the NCEES instrument?
  • What strategies do you have that will support talking to teachers about low and high notations?
  • What strategies can you use to be consistent among administrators using the tool?
  • What will you share with teachers about the evaluation process and tool? What do they need to know? How does your school/district culture support or hinder communication?
