Session Purpose/Overview

The purpose of this session is to develop an understanding of the North Carolina Educator Evaluation System (NCEES) and to analyze how the 21st Century Framework for Learning is embedded throughout the NC Professional Teaching Standards.

Session Description

Participants will analyze standards, elements and descriptors in the evaluation rubric. Participants will examine the NC State Board of Education policy on teacher evaluation and discuss specific examples of educator and student behavior that provide evidence of proficiency. Participants will evaluate levels of proficiency through videos, scenarios, interactive activities, and group discussion.

  • Identify the 4 steps in the evaluation cycle and the corresponding components within each step
  • Summarize the North Carolina State Board Policy TCP-C-004
  • Integrate the evaluation ratings and teacher behaviors aligned with the ratings
  • Collaborate with others to analyze the components of the evaluation process
