Section B


In this portion of the presentation, we will briefly explore the Six North Carolina Educator Evaluation System (NCEES) Teacher Standards. This is a time to review together what the elements and indicators in Standard I and IV may "look" like so you can prepare for the observation. We will be completing an abbreviated observation after viewing the lesson on The Teaching Channel.

In this portion of the presentation, we will briefly review using the observation rubric. We will observe two short videos from The Teaching Channel and work in teams to complete an abbreviated version of the observation rubric................................

Protocol:
  • Split into two teams
  • Team A observse for Standard One
  • Team B observes for Standard Four
  • Take notes and be prepared to share and list reasons for notations

Looking through the same lens at a lesson will help us with inter-rater reliability. Always remember you must support what you mark with evidence.

Inter Rater Reliability

Your facilitator will open a NEW summative for ___. (Your facilitator will tell you what teacher to choose in the McRel System) by visiting the McRel link below. Be prepared to support your 'marks' on the observation rubric for the math lesson you just observed.

This is a time to 'Check your Evidence' and support your marks with facts.

Post Conference Discussion.

Review your role as a "Coach" and develop questions that will allow the teacher to experience self directed growth for the next observation. Be prepared to develop several questions you could ask during the post conference.
